<p style="text-align: center;">Revanche des vieux, dégoût, colère… Deux prolos britons revenus de tout balancent leur verve rageuse dans un hip-hop fait de bric et de broc. Une formule parfaite dupliquée à l&#8217;envi sur une dizaine d&#8217;albums. On n&#8217;a pas encore compris comment ces deux-là ont pu être encensés partout. Eux non plus, sans doute, mais ces <a href="https://sleaford-mods.myshopify.com/" target="_blank">quadras</a> profitent de ce quart d&#8217;heure de gloire pour inviter ici Steve Ignorant (des légendaires Crass, souvent cités, jamais écoutés), le petit génie lo-fi Mark Wynn ou encore les synth-punks énervées de Nachthexen, tout droit venues de Sheffield. Ils auraient tort de se priver – et nous aussi.</p>

<p style="text-align: center;">Textes politiques pas toujours déchiffrables, attitude intransigeante envers les médias dominants et musique globalement très, très sombre. Ben non, on ne rigole pas toujours chez les <a href="https://www.young-fathers.com/" target="_blank">&#8220;jeunes pères&#8221;</a>, ayant accouché d&#8217;un trio d&#8217;albums dans lesquels il fait bon se perdre. Rythmes roboratifs bousculant du gospel morbide, résidus de blues et de country, rap claudiquant, ces chansons valent le détour. Et sur scène ? En deux mots : Yes, papa !</p>

<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>James Holden &amp; The Animal Spirit </strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">Animal. Spirit. Étymologiquement, ces deux mots ont la même source, Anima, qui signifie &#8220;âme&#8221;. C&#8217;était notre ligne Alain Rey. Ce groupe accompagne <a href="http://www.jamesholden.org/" target="_blank">Holden</a> depuis quelques mois et la création d&#8217;un album fricotant avec le folk ancestral, le free jazz, les synthés et la transe – mais pas la trance, on se rassure ! Jamais là où on l&#8217;attend, le Britannique surprend une nouvelle fois en s&#8217;éloignant de l&#8217;electronica pour proposer une musique qui ne ressemble qu&#8217;à lui – et à ses multiples facettes !</p>

<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>The Music of Stranger Things / Kyle Dixon &amp; Michael Stein </strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">Jolie surprise de 2016, la série <em>Stranger Things</em> s&#8217;amusait à passer en revue les eighties adolescentes (de <em>Poltergeist</em> à <em>E.T.</em> en passant par les <em>Goonies</em>). La deuxième saison fut, hum, un chouïa moins bien. Pas grave : ici, nous n&#8217;en aurons que la BO, jouée par ses auteurs. Le tandem rétromaniaque recycle et paie son tribut à Jarre, Carpenter, Vangelis ou Moroder. Aucune surprise en vue, certes, mais le goût délicieusement mélancolique d&#8217;un passé regretté – donc fantasmé. La nostalgie, quoi !</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Ne résumons pas les Young Fathers à un jeu de contrastes. Encore moins à un bête mélange des genres. Flow travaillé, rythmes sans cesse renouvelés, le trio écossais délivre un rap ténébreux trempé dans le blues, passant du punk à la soul sans crier gare. Résultat ? Un son lunatique, schizophrène, que Kayus, Graham et Alloysious posent sur des textes à double tranchant – cf leur dernier album : White Man Are Black Men Too. Beau ET bizarre.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>En découvrant le trio écossais Young Fathers, Freud aurait parlé d’« <em>inquiétante étrangeté</em> ». Le groupe le plus mal assorti de l’histoire de la Grande-Bretagne possède des racines au Liberia, au Nigéria et à Edimbourg, un amalgame à l’équilibre aussi sûr qu’une toupie lancée à toute vitesse dans<em> Inception</em>… Les premières photos de presse laissaient imaginer un boys band de banlieue. Un LP chez Anticon plus tard (<em>Tape Two</em>, 2013), Alloysious Massaquoi, Kayus Bankole et &#8216;G&#8217; Hastings ont perdu le sourire, mais gagné une profondeur qui marque leur musique et leurs visages. Publiée par Big Dada, la division hip-hop de Ninja Tune,<em> Dead</em> (2014) sonne comme une confirmation et devient le prétexte d&#8217;une tournée mondiale. Young Fathers n’est pas un groupe de rap, doit autant à Massive Attack qu’à TV On The Radio, encapsule tout ce que charrie notre temps, des basses ronflantes, des percussions malades, des voix accidentées &#8211; ou accidentelles, on ne sait pas très bien. Le trio se meut par saccades, mais sait également s’apaiser. Et Freud dans tout ça ? Les Ecossais chantent « <em>Inside I’m feeling dirty</em> » durant I Heard. Sensation étrange d’une douceur malsaine, mais tellement authentique…</p>
