				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="https://www.lm-magazine.com/blog/2022/03/03/alex-cameron-2/" target="_blank">Cet Australien</a> n’est pas à un paradoxe près : depuis plus de dix ans, il conjugue détachement ironique et véritable foi en ses mélodies pour nous conter ses affres de loser (magnifique, ça va de soi). En juillet dernier, il signait <em>Late To Set</em>, cinquième album qui confirmait sa place à part dans la pop moderne. On pense souvent au Bowie de<em> Young Americans</em> (1975), mais aussi à Springsteen – car l’homme possède une sacrée plume, et ses textes teintés d’ironie douce-amère valent le détour.</p>

De l’autre, le trio <a href="https://www.lm-magazine.com/blog/2023/01/30/forever-pavot-2/" target="_blank">Forever Pavot</a>, vocoder, pop psyché, prog rock et BO du cinéma français des seventies. Deux univers, mais une même envie de faire dérailler joliment la pop.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Cité natale de l’astronome Godefroid Wendelin (1580-1667), Herck-La-Ville possède un festival qui voit, lui aussi, très loin. Longtemps, ses programmateurs ont eu du flair (Godflesh, Add N to (X), Karate, Spiritualized…). Cependant, cette année, avouons que l’affiche mise sur la sécurité : les rescapés <strong>The Libertines</strong> ou la machine <strong>Basement Jaxx</strong> sont des valeurs sûres et rodées. On attend cependant de bonnes surprises avec une rencontre complice entre <strong>Tiga</strong> et <strong>Erol Alkan</strong>, et on mise beaucoup sur la pop précieuse et fragile de <strong>Dressed Like Boys</strong>.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Il y eut bien, en 2023, un album nommé <em>Messy</em> – sans lien avec Lola Young, même si toutes deux ont étudié à la fameuse BRIT School de Londres. Et une jolie reprise de <em>The Harder They Come</em>, la même année, sur la BO de la série <em>This Town</em>. Mais c’est avec <em>The Art of Loving</em>, paru à l’automne dernier, qu’Olivia Dean est entrée dans la cour des grandes. Vraiment ? Pas sûr qu’elle accepterait le terme. On s’explique : si la jeune Anglaise a grandi avec la boîte à outils soul classique – la Motown, Lauryn Hill, Amy Winehouse… elle ne s’inscrit dans aucun revival, et n’a pas le côté diva <em>bigger than life</em> de ses aînées. Non, il y a ici quelque chose de très artisanal, intimiste et mesuré. Certes, elle paie son tribut à Carole King et évoque, parfois, l’âge d’or de la soul, mais on est loin des (prestigieux) fac-similés de Daptone Records. De même, cette simplicité, cette soul jazz accessible la situe assez loin des vaisseaux conceptuels dirigés par Janelle Monáe ou, plus près de nous, Raye. Et c’est finalement cela qu’on aime chez Olivia Dean : ce côté girl next door dotée d’une voix en or qui ne s’en aperçoit pas encore.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Depuis 2012 Mitski dessine un joli parcours, dans une indifférence publique étonnante. Sa grosse poignée d’albums fut acclamée, mais la nippo-américaine ne possède pas encore l’aura de Big Thief ou, mieux, de Lana Del Rey, avec laquelle elle partage cette propension aux mélodies cinématographiques, cette pop orchestrale aux accents nostalgiques et tragiques. Mais Mitski touche un peu à tout, et passe d’une chanson country anémique façon Cowboy Junkies (autre influence manifeste) à un indie-rock bruyant mais brillant de mille et une couleurs. Oui, la palette est riche et, un jour peut-être, Mitski décrochera la timbale. En attendant, cette (relative) discrétion lui sied parfaitement.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>« <em>La vie est un songe </em>», écrivait Calderón. « <em>Nous sommes tous dans le caniveau, mais certains d&#8217;entre nous regardent les étoiles </em>», disait Oscar Wilde. Son compatriote Neil Hannon pourrait reprendre ces deux assertions à son compte. Comment expliquer autrement l’œuvre de ce farfadet qui, depuis près de quatre décennies, se rêve démiurge en son royaume ? Passé une première expérience en groupe, à l’orée des années 1990, Neil Hannon vire tout le monde mais conserve le nom, un brin mégalo, chipé à Dante. Mégalo, il l’était sans doute ; il le fallait pour écrire de telles pop songs, façon Scott Walker première période, en pleine déferlante grunge. Avec les années, le natif de Londonderry a gagné en humilité. Mais prend toujours ses chansons au sérieux. La preuve avec le récent <em>Rainy Sunday Afternoon</em> (2025), douzième album qui prouve que ce songwriter inspiré rivalise tranquillement avec Jacques Brel, Burt Bacharach, Phil Spector ou Jack Nitzsche. De grands rêves, réalisés avec une certaine modestie.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On a peu de chances de voir un jour Dolly Parton, reine de la country, fouler les scènes de nos contrées. Heureusement, CMAT est là ! Une pâle copie ? Que nenni ! La Dublinoise se révèle aussi exubérante que douée, digne héritière sans jamais verser dans l’imitation. Mieux : Ciara Mary- Alice Thompson insuffle à son euro-country une touche pop, à faire pâlir Lola Young. Son timbre joliment voilé conte peines et colères avec maestria et une pointe de bonne humeur contagieuse.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>C’est un classique : un artiste apparaît, son drôle de monde – voire &#8220;d’univers&#8221; – en bandoulière. Puis au fil des albums, s’opère un recentrage, car il s’agit de durer. Les exemples sont légion. Fischbach est-elle de ceux-là ? Pas sûr. Lorsqu’elle apparut, vers 2016, on était un peu perplexe et paumé face à cette voix profonde et une présence théâtrale, typiques des 80’s, évoquant pêle-mêle Rita Mitsouko, Mylène Farmer, Rose Laurens ou Bonnie Tyler. Certes, <em>À Ta Merci</em> (2017) nous laissa de marbre, mais on fut charmé par <em>Avec Les Yeux</em> (2022). Utilisant à peu près les même ingrédients, l’Ardennaise livrait une bataille victorieuse. Quelques tubes imparables – le mélancolique <em>Dans un fou-rire</em>, l’electro-funk <em>Masque d’Or</em> ou la beauté acoustique <em>Quitter la Ville</em> laissaient présager d’une pop (un peu) moins référencée. Sa singularité s’imposait et s’ouvrait à chacun. Pourtant, son troisième LP, <em>Val Synth</em> (2025), confirme qu’elle n’en a pas fini avec les années 80, multipliant les clins d’œil à Jean Reno période <em>Le Grand Bleu</em>, aux <em>Tortues Ninja</em>, à Sabine Paturel… Ces obsessions, Flora Fishbach les revendique, les porte en étendard et ne s’est, finalement, pas recentrée pour plaire au plus grand nombre.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Dans l’univers coloré d’Artoyz, la pop culture prend des airs de cabinet de curiosités. Côté musique, la marque française miniaturise les mythes avec un sens du détail qui frise le fétichisme. Rock, électro, disco… tout y passe, mais c’est surtout le hip-hop qui trouve ici son panthéon. Parmi les pépites, Outkast sort du lot avec des figurines au look aussi cosmic-funk que leurs albums. La paire d’Atlanta se transforme en objets cultes, parfaits pour les fans qui trouvent leur déco trop silencieuse.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Surgie de nulle part ou presque, ayant &#8220;nettoyé&#8221; du Web ses précédentes tentatives musicales, bien différentes de ce qu’elle propose aujourd’hui, Miki fut parfois accusée d’être un pur produit de l’industrie (une<em> industry plant</em>). Retournement du stigmate : c’est devenu le titre de son premier album. Un disque qui fera date, pour sa qualité d’abord, mais aussi parce qu’il nous rappelle ce que peut être, au fond, la pop. Dans l’imaginaire collectif, c’est feel-good, c’est frais, c’est léger. Miki brise cette règle a priori immuable : basses lourdes et rythmes montés sur ressorts, mélodies et synthés acidulés cultivent une drôle de sensation, un plaisir mêlé de malaise. Pleine de rancœur, de haine de soi et d’une solitude insondable, Miki a le chic pour glisser, au détour d’un morceau, un problème d’addiction ou des abus sexuels subis adolescente. Pas la franche rigolade, non. Mais c’est là toute la réussite de cette œuvre : composer des titres irrésistibles, avec les codes de l’enfance et une certaine légèreté kawaï pour mieux évoquer des traumas. Et l’on reste soufflé par ses prestations scéniques, où ces plaies non refermées deviennent propices à un show sous amphés.</p>
