The Theatre Festival : A Piece of Time / Nick Steur / Stichting SoAP
A square of tens metronomes marks the playing surface. A glossy, heavy pendulum hangs in the middle of a triangular frame, modeled after the pyramid of Giza. The slow, flowing swing of the pendulum is crossed by the ticking of the metronomes: straight, grim and chaotic.
In a shifting play of image, sound and a slow onset silence Nick Steur allows different types of time perception interact, resulting in a memorable, magical in its simplicity.
