<p><strong><br />
</strong>Accompagnateur du regretté Ibrahim Ferrer, nourri au swing afro des cabarets de La Havane, Roberto Fonseca ne s&#8217;est jamais contenté de l&#8217;héritage cubain, se distinguant par le biais d&#8217;une écriture souvent cérébrale et conceptuelle. Pourtant, l&#8217;année 2012 l&#8217;a vu se métamorphoser en intégrant un orgue Hammond, des instruments électro-analogiques et un luth n&#8217;goni africain. Le résultat, <em>YO</em>, est un album à part dans la précieuse discographie du musicien. Inspiré par la Santeria (un culte carribéen), le pianiste au jeu physique dresse des ponts entre Cuba et l&#8217;Afrique. Il injecte du sang neuf dans ses compositions, sans rien perdre de sa maestria. Comme un signe, c&#8217;est la Capverdienne Carmen Souza qui partage l&#8217;affiche avec Fonseca. Mêlant soul, jazz et traditions africaines, la chanteuse redonne des couleurs aux musiques noires.</p>

<p>Ici, nous allons vous parler d&#8217;un temps que les moins de vingt ans ne peuvent pas connaître, et que les non kobaïophones ne peuvent pas comprendre. Et pourtant&#8230; Fouillez-bien, demandez à votre vieux tonton baba ou votre marraine un peu ésotérique : ils possèdent forcément des vinyles de Magma. Cette formation cosmique possède son propre langage (le kobaïen) et sa propre musique (le zeuhl) qui conjugue jazz, chant choral et rythmes martiaux, joués de main de maître par Christian Vander. Certes, l&#8217;approche n&#8217;est pas facile. Mais ce monument de l&#8217;avant-garde hexagonale ne se visite pas tous les jours. Allez donc y faire un tour !</p>

<p>Si le hip-hop est né aux USA, il n&#8217;a jamais oublié ses racines africaines – une nouvelle preuve avec Blitz The Ambassador, immigré ghanéen reconnecté à ses origines. Sur scène, la puissance des cuivres de son groupe (The Embassy) conforte un flow à l&#8217;élégance hargneuse. Alors hip-hop, certes, mais largement à sa place dans un festival jazz. De toute façon, des Last Poets à Oxmo Puccino en passant par les hybridations de Ninja Tune, ces deux musiques fricotent ensemble depuis longtemps.</p>

<p>Il existe différentes manières d&#8217;aborder Herbie Hancock. En citant la myriade d&#8217;artistes qui l&#8217;ont samplé – mais on manque de place. En rappelant les légendes avec lesquelles il a composé, de Miles Davis à Wayne Shorter en passant par Donald Byrd. On peut aussi insister sur cette modernité jamais démentie, de l&#8217;electro (Future Shock, 1983, bien sûr) jusqu&#8217;aux musiques des quatre coins du globe (The Imagine Project, 2010). Mais le meilleur moyen de comprendre Herbie, c&#8217;est d&#8217;aller voir Hancock, non ? D&#8217;autant que, chose rare, le génie de la note bleue se produit ici, en solo.</p>
