				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>C&#8217;est l&#8217;histoire d&#8217;une résurrection – ou presque. Aurait-on entendu parler de Mónika Christodoúlou, 30 ans, si elle n&#8217;avait pris un billet pour les studios Daptone Records, sis à Brooklyn ? Surtout, l&#8217;aurait-on entendu chanter si elle n&#8217;avait survécu à une quasi-noyade, quelques mois auparavant ? Cet accident de bateau au large de la Grèce lui a donné envie de prendre la vie à bras le corps. Si boire la tasse lui offrit un second souffle, elle n&#8217;était pas vraiment au creux de la vague. Simplement, la belle hellène avait sorti deux albums de pop folk très <em>middle of the road</em> (quoique rudement plaisants) et connaissait le succès dans son pays natal, la Grèce. Elle y tournait même à guichets fermés – normal : avec l&#8217;austérité, ceux-ci sont rarement ouverts. Bref, décidée à célébrer la vie plutôt que les petits états d&#8217;âmes souffreteux, l&#8217;ex-étudiante en mathématiques se réinvente en héroïne disco funk avec un talent certain et l&#8217;aide de Homer Steinweiss et Thomas Brenneck, présents sur le fameux <em>Back to Black</em> (2006) d&#8217;Amy Winehouse. Mais rien à voir avec une diva soul de plus : sur scène, la guitare en bandoulière, Monika chante sans en faire trop, privilégiant l&#8217;énergie (ces lignes de basse…) à la performance vocale.</p>
